"Spirited Away," written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, released in 2002, is one of the most successful films in Japan, second only to the recent 2020 Japan release of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." Gaining popularity in America, "Spirited Away" is one of the most influencing movies in the world.

Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" has received many awards and box office awards; "Spirited Away" raked in $234 million, overtaking Titanic to become Japan's highest-grossing film at the time. "In 2003, "Spirited Away" was awarded Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards, becoming the first, and to this day, only non-English-language movie to win the award." (Moon, 2021). "Spirited Away" took the Oscar win only the second year after the Best Animated Feature category was created.
My Interest in "Spirited Away"
When I was young and growing, my family showed me many films by Studio Ghibli. My top three favorites, which also happen to be the top 3 bestselling films produced by Studio Ghibli: "Ponyo," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Spirited Away." Growing up loving art also encourages my love for this film. Studio Ghibli has never failed to make the most dazzling animation and environments in every movie they have created. I was never displeased by the magical stories and beautiful atmosphere created in this motion-picture masterpiece.
Why I Talk About This Movie
This movie has impacted me in such a strong way and I encourage anyone and everyone to watch it, I have made many friends with fellow students by simply talking about a similarity in things we like, one of them being this movie; I implore everyone to watch this incredible movie and its many different viewpoints and little stories intertwined within it.
